Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi to Moc Chau – Into the Green Highlands

Start: Hanoi
Destination: Moc Chau
Overnight: Moc Chau
Distance: 200 km
Riding Time: 5–6 hours

Leaving Hanoi behind, the route quickly transitions from busy city streets to quiet countryside roads as you ride southwest toward the mountains of Hoa Binh Province. Rolling hills, limestone cliffs, rice paddies, and peaceful rural villages provide a relaxing introduction to Northern Vietnam’s spectacular landscapes.

A stop in the beautiful Mai Chau Valley offers the chance to experience traditional White Thai villages, admire wooden stilt houses, and enjoy views across lush rice fields surrounded by limestone mountains. Continuing uphill, cooler temperatures welcome you onto the Moc Chau Plateau, one of Vietnam’s most famous highland regions.

The afternoon ride passes endless tea plantations, dairy farms, fruit orchards, and pine forests before arriving in Moc Chau. Known for its fresh mountain air and peaceful atmosphere, this charming town is an ideal first overnight stop.

Day 2: Moc Chau to Nghia Lo – Hidden Roads and Mountain Valleys

Start: Moc Chau
Destination: Nghia Lo
Overnight: Nghia Lo
Distance: 180 km
Riding Time: 5–6 hours

Today’s ride follows one of Northern Vietnam’s lesser-known scenic routes, weaving through remote valleys and peaceful mountain roads rarely visited by international travelers. Gentle curves, forested hills, and quiet farming communities make for an enjoyable day on the bike.

Passing through Phu Yen and Tram Tau, you’ll discover authentic H’Mong and Thai villages where daily life has changed little over generations. If time allows, relax in the natural hot springs of Tram Tau before continuing through increasingly dramatic mountain scenery.

By late afternoon, arrive in Nghia Lo, a welcoming town surrounded by fertile valleys and considered one of the cultural centers of the Thai ethnic people. Enjoy local hospitality and traditional cuisine before preparing for one of the tour’s most spectacular riding days.

Day 3: Nghia Lo to Luc Yen – Riding Through Vietnam’s Famous Rice Terraces

Start: Nghia Lo
Destination: Luc Yen
Overnight: Luc Yen
Distance: 160 km
Riding Time: 5–6 hours

Today delivers some of the finest mountain riding anywhere in Vietnam. Leaving Nghia Lo, the road climbs steadily toward the legendary Khau Pha Pass, one of the country’s most scenic mountain roads. From the summit, panoramic views stretch across endless valleys covered with magnificent rice terraces.

Descending into Mu Cang Chai, you’ll discover one of Vietnam’s most photographed landscapes. The spectacular terraces, carefully carved into the mountainsides by generations of H’Mong farmers, create an unforgettable natural masterpiece that changes color with each season.

The journey continues through peaceful mountain villages before arriving in Luc Yen, a quiet district renowned for gemstone mining, fertile valleys, and authentic rural life. Away from busy tourist routes, Luc Yen offers a genuine glimpse into Northern Vietnam’s countryside.

Day 4: Luc Yen to Lam Binh – Into Vietnam’s Hidden Northeast

Start: Luc Yen
Destination: Lam Binh
Overnight: Lam Binh
Distance: 130 km
Riding Time: 4–5 hours

Today’s route leads into one of Northern Vietnam’s least-visited regions, where winding mountain roads pass dense forests, limestone peaks, and peaceful river valleys. Riding through Na Hang, you’ll enjoy spectacular scenery shaped by towering cliffs and emerald waterways, making this one of the most photogenic sections of the tour.

Continuing to Lam Binh, you’ll travel through traditional villages inhabited by the Tay, Dao, and H’Mong ethnic communities. The region is celebrated for its unspoiled landscapes and rich cultural heritage. If time permits, take an optional boat trip across Na Hang Lake or visit the beautiful Khuoi Nhi Waterfall. The day ends with an authentic homestay experience in a traditional Tay stilt house, where you’ll enjoy home-cooked local cuisine and genuine mountain hospitality.

Day 5: Lam Binh to Ba Be Lake – Vietnam’s Largest Natural Lake

Start: Lam Binh
Destination: Ba Be National Park
Overnight: Ba Be Lake
Distance: 100 km
Riding Time: 3–4 hours

A shorter riding day allows plenty of time to experience one of Vietnam’s most beautiful national parks. Quiet mountain roads guide you through forested valleys before arriving at the tranquil waters of Ba Be Lake, the country’s largest natural freshwater lake and the centerpiece of Ba Be National Park.

Surrounded by limestone mountains and ancient rainforest, Ba Be offers a peaceful contrast to the mountain passes of previous days. In the afternoon, enjoy an optional boat trip across the lake to visit Puong Cave, Dau Dang Waterfall, and small riverside villages. Depending on the season, you may also choose to swim, kayak, or simply relax while taking in the spectacular scenery.

Spend the evening in a traditional Tay homestay beside the lake, enjoying fresh local dishes and the peaceful atmosphere of this remarkable natural setting.

Day 6: Ba Be Lake to Hanoi – Through Tea Country

Start: Ba Be Lake
Destination: Hanoi
Overnight: End of Tour
Distance: 230 km
Riding Time: 6–7 hours

The final day begins with a relaxing ride through the peaceful countryside of Bac Kan Province before heading south toward Thai Nguyen, Vietnam’s most famous tea-growing region. Rolling green tea hills stretch across the landscape, providing excellent photo opportunities and a chance to sample some of the country’s finest green tea.

The route continues along quiet rural roads lined with farms, rivers, and traditional villages before gradually returning to the outskirts of Hanoi. As the capital comes back into view, you’ll reflect on six unforgettable days exploring hidden mountain roads, spectacular rice terraces, remote ethnic communities, pristine lakes, and some of Northern Vietnam’s most breathtaking scenery.
