Tour Itinerary
Saigon to the Mekong Delta
We leave Saigon at around 7:30 AM and begin heading south towards the Mekong Delta.
For guests travelling by motorcycle, the aim is to leave the busiest urban roads behind as efficiently as possible and use quieter provincial and rural roads where practical. The scenery gradually changes from city streets to smaller communities, farmland and coconut-growing areas.
For private car and van guests, we follow a similar overall route with comfortable air-conditioned transport.
A short coffee or refreshment stop can be arranged along the way.
My Tho and the Mekong Waterways
We continue towards My Tho, one of the main gateways to the Mekong Delta, before moving onto the waterways.
The boat journey provides a different view of the Delta from the road. Depending on the day’s operating arrangements and water conditions, the route can move from the wider river into narrower waterways and canals bordered by tropical vegetation and local homes.
This is not simply a transfer between sightseeing points. It is time to slow down and see how the waterways remain part of everyday life in southern Vietnam.
Ben Tre – Coconut Country
From the waterways, we continue into the Ben Tre area, well known for its coconut production.
Here you can see the agricultural side of the Mekong Delta and, where operating conditions allow, visit a small local coconut-processing or family-run production site. The exact stop may vary according to local opening times and the day’s route.
Ben Tre is particularly associated with coconut products, fruit-growing and small family businesses, making it one of the most practical areas for experiencing rural Delta life on a one-day tour.
Local Mekong Lunch
Around midday, we stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
The meal features Southern Vietnamese dishes and typical Mekong Delta ingredients. Depending on the restaurant and seasonal availability, dishes may include fried Elephant Ear Fish, clay-pot dishes, spring rolls, vegetables and Southern-style soup.
Vegetarian and other dietary requirements can be arranged with advance notice.
Fruit Garden
After lunch, we continue to a local fruit-growing area.
The fruit available depends on the season, but may include rambutan, mango, jackfruit, pomelo, dragon fruit or other tropical varieties.
Rather than trying to visit too many attractions in one day, we allow enough time for you to enjoy the countryside and understand how fruit-growing fits into everyday life in the Delta.
Return to Saigon
In the afternoon, we leave Ben Tre and begin the journey back to Saigon.
Motorcycle guests continue with their Easy Riders, while private car and van guests travel in air-conditioned comfort. The return route may vary according to traffic, weather and road conditions.
A short stop can be made if needed before we reach Saigon.
Arrival in Saigon
We normally arrive back in Saigon in the late afternoon, with drop-off at your hotel or another agreed location.
You finish the day having travelled beyond the main city, seen the Mekong from both road and water, experienced the countryside around Ben Tre and enjoyed local Southern food – all without the need to change hotels.
