2 Day Easy Ride Tour Saigon Loop – VIETNAMRIDER
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Saigon to Dambri Waterfall and Bao Loc
Distance: Approximately 200 km
Riding Time: 5–6 hours, including stops
Overnight: Bao Loc
We leave Ho Chi Minh City at around 7:30 AM and begin the ride north-east, using smaller roads to get away from the busiest parts of the city.
The change in scenery is gradual. Buildings and heavy traffic give way to open farmland, small settlements and plantations as we travel through the countryside of Binh Duong and Dong Nai.
The morning ride is relaxed, with regular opportunities to stop and take photographs or have a drink. Rather than rushing towards the mountains, the route allows time to observe the agricultural landscape and see how rural communities make their living.
Rubber and Cashew Country
One of the first stops is in a farming area where rubber and cashew are important local crops.
Rubber plantations are particularly distinctive, with rows of trees stretching across the countryside. Your guide can explain how rubber trees are tapped and how latex is collected before being processed into rubber products.
We also visit a cashew-growing area. Vietnam is one of the world’s major cashew-processing countries, and seeing the crop at its source provides a useful insight into an industry that is often overlooked by visitors.
Depending on the season and local activity, there may be an opportunity to see how cashew nuts are handled and prepared. A short break with local coffee and fresh cashews makes a good introduction to the region’s agricultural character.
Rural Backroads to Dambri
After the plantation visit, we continue through increasingly green countryside.
The road passes rice fields, banana plantations, gardens and forested areas. Small villages appear along the route, with homes and family businesses located close to the road.
As we move further from Saigon, the terrain gradually becomes more varied. Low hills begin to appear and the roads become more interesting for motorcycle riding.
There are several scenic points where we can stop for photographs. The pace remains flexible, so you can take time to enjoy the surroundings rather than simply travelling from one destination to another.
Around lunchtime, we reach the area of Dambri Waterfall, near Bao Loc.
Dambri Waterfall
Dambri is one of the best-known waterfalls in Lam Dong Province. Water drops through a forested gorge surrounded by lush vegetation, creating a cool and refreshing setting after the morning ride.
We take time to visit the waterfall and explore the surrounding area. Depending on conditions and your preference, you can walk along the nearby paths, enjoy the forest environment or simply relax beside the falls.
Lunch is arranged in the Dambri area, with local Vietnamese dishes providing a chance to sample regional cooking.
After lunch, we continue towards Bao Loc.
Into the Bao Loc Highlands
The afternoon ride is noticeably different from the morning. As the elevation increases, the air becomes cooler and the landscape changes to green hills, tea plantations and patches of pine forest.
Bao Loc is well known for its tea production, and the surrounding hills are covered with plantations. The combination of winding roads, cultivated hills and cooler weather makes this section particularly enjoyable by motorcycle.
We take a scenic route through the highlands before stopping at a traditional silk-weaving village.
Traditional Silk Weaving
Silk production has a long history in the Bao Loc area, which is one of Vietnam’s important silk-producing regions.
At a local workshop, you can see how silkworm cocoons are transformed into silk thread and eventually woven into fabric. Rather than visiting a large industrial facility, the stop focuses on traditional family-based production and the skills involved in the process.
Your guide can explain each stage, from raising silkworms and collecting the cocoons to spinning, dyeing and weaving the silk.
It is an opportunity to see a craft that remains closely connected to local livelihoods.
Evening in Bao Loc
We continue to our accommodation in the hills around Bao Loc and arrive in the late afternoon.
Depending on the accommodation, you may stay in a small guesthouse or a local homestay surrounded by gardens, tea plantations or countryside.
After checking in, there is time to relax or take a short walk around the area.
Dinner features local dishes and fresh regional ingredients. If you wish, you can also try local rice wine and enjoy a relaxed conversation with your hosts.
The cooler highland climate makes Bao Loc a pleasant place to spend the evening, particularly after a full day of riding.
Overnight in Bao Loc.
Day 2 – Bao Loc to Cat Tien and Saigon
Distance: Approximately 220 km
Riding Time: 5–6 hours, including stops
The second day starts with breakfast at the accommodation before heading out into the Bao Loc countryside.
An early start gives us the chance to enjoy the highlands while the temperature is still cool and the roads are relatively quiet.
Bao Loc Tea Hills
Our first stop is in the tea-growing hills surrounding Bao Loc.
The plantations form neat rows across the slopes, creating a very different landscape from the lowland countryside around Saigon. Early in the morning, the light over the tea fields can be particularly attractive for photography.
We take a relaxed ride through the plantation areas and stop at suitable viewpoints.
Tea has been an important agricultural product in Bao Loc for generations, and the local climate and highland soils provide favourable conditions for growing several varieties.
Local Tea Experience
We then visit a family-run tea house or small local producer.
Here, you can learn how tea leaves are harvested, processed and prepared. Depending on what is available, you may have the chance to taste different styles of locally produced tea, such as green tea, oolong or jasmine tea.
The experience is informal and gives you an opportunity to talk with local producers and understand how tea production fits into everyday life in the area.
After the tea stop, we begin descending from the highlands towards the lower countryside.
Coffee Country
As we lose altitude, coffee plantations become more common.
The Central Highlands are Vietnam’s main coffee-growing region, and coffee production is an important part of the local economy. The landscape changes again as tea hills give way to coffee farms, fruit trees and warmer lowland vegetation.
We stop at a small family-run coffee farm where you can learn more about coffee cultivation and local processing methods.
One of the specialities you may encounter here is Vietnamese weasel coffee, traditionally known as civet coffee. Your guide can explain the history of this unusual product, how it is traditionally produced and why it has become one of Vietnam’s most talked-about speciality coffees.
There is time to sample a cup before continuing the journey.
Towards Cat Tien
From the coffee-growing areas, we continue towards the countryside surrounding Cat Tien National Park.
The scenery becomes greener again as we approach the forested lowlands. Small farms, villages and waterways line the road, while the hills gradually flatten out.
We stop for lunch at a local restaurant near the Cat Tien area. Regional dishes such as clay-pot fish, stir-fried vegetables, fresh herbs and local soup are typical choices.
After lunch, you can choose whether to include an optional nature experience.
Optional Cat Tien Nature Experience
For guests interested in wildlife and forest environments, we can arrange an optional short walk or boat trip in the Cat Tien area, subject to time, weather and local operating conditions.
Cat Tien is recognised for its important tropical forest ecosystem and diverse wildlife. The surrounding area provides opportunities to observe forest vegetation, birdlife and waterways.
The optional activity is not essential to the motorcycle tour, so guests who prefer to spend more time riding can continue directly on the road towards Saigon.
Scenic Return to Saigon
In the afternoon, we begin the final section of the Saigon Loop.
Rather than returning by the same route, we use rural roads through Dong Nai Province wherever practical. This keeps the journey varied and provides another perspective on southern Vietnam.
The roads pass through farms, plantations and small communities. You may see farmers working their fields, herding ducks, drying agricultural products or transporting produce between villages.
We make short stops along the way for drinks, fruit and photographs.
The afternoon ride is generally relaxed, but the distance means we maintain a steady pace to reach Saigon before evening.
As we get closer to the city, the countryside gradually becomes more developed. Small towns become larger, traffic increases and the familiar urban landscape of Ho Chi Minh City begins to appear again.
We continue carefully through the outer districts before reaching the city centre.
The tour finishes at your hotel or an agreed location in Saigon at approximately 5:30–6:00 PM.
