Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Nha Trang – Da Lat

Distance: 140 km

Leaving the tropical coastline of Nha Trang, today’s ride quickly climbs into the mountains via the spectacular Khanh Le Pass, one of Vietnam’s most rewarding motorcycle roads. Long sweeping corners, fresh mountain air, and panoramic valley views make this an unforgettable introduction to the Central Highlands. As the elevation increases, tropical forests gradually give way to pine-covered hills, creating a dramatic contrast with the coast left behind.

Several scenic stops along the pass provide excellent opportunities for photography while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Small villages appear between forested mountains, offering a glimpse into rural life rarely experienced by visitors following the main highways.

Before reaching Da Lat, visit Lat Village, home to the indigenous Lat people. Learn about their traditional longhouses, unique customs, and agricultural lifestyle while discovering how local communities have lived in harmony with the surrounding mountains for generations. Friendly villagers often welcome visitors to sample local coffee or seasonal fruits grown on nearby farms.

Arriving in Da Lat during the afternoon, you’ll immediately notice the city’s cool climate and relaxed atmosphere. Built by the French during the colonial period as a mountain retreat, Da Lat remains one of Vietnam’s most charming destinations. Wide boulevards lined with pine trees, elegant colonial villas, colorful flower gardens, and beautiful lakes create a refreshing contrast to the country’s tropical lowlands.

Spend the evening wandering through the lively Da Lat Night Market, where local vendors serve regional specialties including grilled street food, fresh strawberries, avocado ice cream, and warm soy milk. It’s the perfect place to experience local life before resting for tomorrow’s adventure.

Overnight: Hotel in Da Lat

Day 2: Da Lat – Buon Ma Thuot

Distance: 180 km

Today’s journey showcases the very best of Vietnam’s Central Highlands as you leave Da Lat behind and ride through rolling farmland, coffee plantations, and quiet mountain roads. The cooler climate creates ideal conditions for growing vegetables, flowers, tea, and coffee, making this one of Vietnam’s richest agricultural regions.

The route passes countless greenhouses and plantations before descending toward Lak Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in the Central Highlands. Surrounded by gentle hills and traditional villages, Lak Lake offers a peaceful setting where life moves at a slower pace. Optional boat trips allow visitors to appreciate the tranquil scenery while observing fishermen using traditional methods passed down through generations.

Nearby, explore Jun Village, home to the M’Nong ethnic minority. Walking through the village provides fascinating insight into local customs, traditional stilt-house architecture, weaving techniques, and everyday village life. The M’Nong people have maintained many of their ancient traditions despite modern development, making this one of the cultural highlights of the tour.

Continuing north, the road winds through coffee farms, pepper plantations, and tropical forests before arriving at the magnificent Dray Sap Waterfall. Hidden beneath a dense forest canopy, the powerful cascade crashes over volcanic rock, creating one of the most spectacular natural attractions in the Central Highlands. Walking trails allow visitors to explore the surrounding forest while enjoying the cool mist from the falls.

Only a short distance away lies Dray Nur Waterfall, another impressive waterfall connected by local legend to Dray Sap. Depending on timing, there’s also an opportunity to visit Gia Long Waterfall, a quieter natural retreat surrounded by untouched forest that offers excellent photo opportunities and peaceful scenery.

By late afternoon, arrive in Buon Ma Thuot, Vietnam’s coffee capital. The city is famous worldwide for producing premium Robusta coffee, and no visit would be complete without enjoying a freshly brewed cup at one of the local cafés.

Overnight: Hotel in Buon Ma Thuot

Day 3: Buon Ma Thuot – Kon Tum

Distance: 250 km

Today features one of the longest and most rewarding rides of the tour as you travel north through the heart of the Central Highlands. Quiet sections of Highway 14 alternate with peaceful backroads that pass endless coffee plantations, rubber forests, pepper farms, and remote ethnic villages. The smooth roads, flowing curves, and light traffic make this an enjoyable day for riders who appreciate both scenery and open riding.

As the landscape gradually rises, you’ll encounter communities belonging to the Ede, Jarai, and Bahnar ethnic minorities. Traditional longhouses, wooden churches, and vibrant local markets provide authentic opportunities to experience the diverse cultures that have shaped Vietnam’s highland region for centuries.

A worthwhile stop is Pleiku, another important coffee-producing city surrounded by volcanic hills. Enjoy a short coffee break while taking in views of the fertile plateau before continuing north toward Kon Tum.

Upon arrival in Kon Tum, explore some of the city’s most famous cultural landmarks. The beautifully crafted Kon Tum Wooden Church, built entirely from timber, combines French colonial architecture with traditional Central Highland design. Nearby, cross the impressive Kon Klor Suspension Bridge, stretching across the Dak Bla River and offering excellent views of the surrounding countryside.

Continue to the Kon Tum Seminary, one of the oldest Catholic seminaries in Vietnam, where local architecture blends harmoniously with Western influences. If time allows, visit nearby Bahnar villages to observe traditional Rong communal houses and learn about the customs, music, and craftsmanship of the local people.

After a rewarding day of riding and sightseeing, enjoy dinner at one of Kon Tum’s local restaurants, where regional specialties reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Central Highlands.

Day 4: Kon Tum – Kham Duc

Distance: 170 km

Leaving Kon Tum behind, today’s ride follows one of Vietnam’s most historic roads—the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. Originally developed as a strategic military supply route during the Vietnam War, it has become one of the country’s finest motorcycle routes, offering outstanding scenery, smooth pavement, and very little traffic.

The road winds through dense jungle, rolling mountains, and peaceful valleys, providing a completely different riding experience from the previous days. Frequent elevation changes reveal spectacular panoramic viewpoints overlooking untouched forests and remote villages hidden among the hills.

One of today’s major highlights is visiting the Dak To battlefield, where fierce fighting took place during the Vietnam War. Nearby memorials and preserved historical sites offer insight into one of the conflict’s most significant campaigns in the Central Highlands.

Continuing north, you’ll reach Ngoc Hoi, close to the famous Indochina Border where Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia meet. Standing beside the border marker provides a unique opportunity to visit one of Southeast Asia’s most symbolic geographical locations while enjoying magnificent mountain views stretching across three countries.

Throughout the day, small waterfalls, mountain streams, and quiet ethnic villages provide excellent rest stops. The region is home to several minority communities whose traditional lifestyles remain closely connected to the surrounding forests.

Arriving in Kham Duc, a quiet mountain town surrounded by lush hills, you’ll have time to relax after another memorable riding day. Despite its peaceful appearance today, Kham Duc played an important role during the Vietnam War, adding historical depth to this scenic destination.

Overnight: Hotel in Kham Duc

Day 5: Kham Duc – Hoi An

Distance: 130 km

The final riding day combines fascinating history, traditional village life, and one of Vietnam’s most beautiful UNESCO destinations.

Leaving Kham Duc, begin with a visit to the historic Kham Duc Special Forces Base, an important military site during the Vietnam War. The surrounding area still contains reminders of its strategic significance, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the region’s remarkable history.

Continuing eastward, the road gradually descends from the Central Highlands toward the coastal plains. Along the way, you’ll pass peaceful villages inhabited by Co Tu ethnic communities, where traditional wooden homes, handicrafts, and farming practices continue much as they have for generations.

One cultural highlight is a visit to a traditional rice paper-making village, where skilled local families continue producing rice paper using age-old techniques. Watching every step of the process—from preparing the rice mixture to drying the delicate sheets under the sun—provides a fascinating glimpse into Vietnamese culinary traditions. Visitors can even sample freshly made rice paper alongside local snacks.

As the mountains slowly disappear behind you, the scenery opens into wide rice fields, coconut groves, and quiet countryside roads leading toward the coast.

By afternoon, arrive in the enchanting town of Hoi An, one of Vietnam’s best-preserved historic trading ports and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its narrow streets are lined with beautifully restored merchant houses, ancient temples, traditional assembly halls, and colorful lanterns that illuminate the town each evening.

Spend your final afternoon exploring the Old Town at your own pace. Visit artisan workshops where local craftsmen create the town’s famous silk lanterns, browse boutique shops selling handmade souvenirs, or relax beside the Thu Bon River while enjoying authentic Central Vietnamese cuisine such as Cao Lau noodles or White Rose dumplings.

As night falls and thousands of lanterns reflect across the river, your 5 Day Nha Trang Hoi An Easy Ride – Vietnam Motorbike Tour concludes with unforgettable memories of mountain passes, hidden waterfalls, ethnic cultures, historic battlefields, and some of Vietnam’s most spectacular riding roads.
